MAGLUVET Injection

MAGLUVET is a veterinary injection containing Flunixin Meglumine, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is primarily used to help reduce pain, fever, and inflammation in animals.

Main Uses in Animals

• Control of Fever (Pyrexia): Helps reduce fever associated with conditions such as bovine respiratory disease (pneumonia) and acute mastitis.
• Pain and Inflammation: Used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with muscular and joint disorders.
• Mastitis: Helps control pain, inflammation, and fever associated with mastitis.
• Colic: In horses, flunixin may be used to relieve pain associated with colic.
• Endotoxemia: May be used as part of supportive treatment in endotoxemia associated with severe bacterial infections or septicemia.

Route of Administration

Depending on the approved product label and veterinary direction, it may be administered by slow intravenous (IV) injection or intramuscular (IM) injection.

Dosage

The appropriate dose depends on the animal species, body weight, condition, and specific product formulation. The dose of 1–2 mL per 45 kg body weight should not be treated as a universal dose; it must be confirmed from the MAGLUVET product label and prescribed by a veterinarian.

Precautions

• Use only under the advice and supervision of a registered veterinarian.
• Use with particular caution in animals with kidney or liver disease.
• NSAIDs may cause gastrointestinal, kidney, or other adverse effects, particularly when used incorrectly or in dehydrated animals.
• Avoid combining with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids unless specifically directed by a veterinarian.
• Follow the applicable milk and meat withdrawal periods for food-producing animals.
