ECZEVET injection) HUIA

  • ECZEVET Injection

ECZEVET Injection is a HUIA Life Science veterinary brand containing Eprinomectin as its active ingredient. It is a prescription veterinary antiparasitic medicine used for the treatment and control of a broad range of internal and external parasites in cattle and, where approved, sheep and goats.

    Key Information

    • Target Species: Primarily cattle; use in sheep and goats depends on the specific product registration and local approval.
    • Active Ingredient: Eprinomectin, a semi-synthetic macrocyclic lactone that acts on the nervous system of susceptible parasites, causing paralysis and death.
    • Administration: Generally administered by subcutaneous (SC) injection, according to the approved product label and veterinary instructions.
    • Prescription Status: It should be used only under the direction of a qualified veterinarian and according to the applicable product label.

    Main Uses

Eprinomectin may be used for the treatment and control of susceptible parasites, including:

    • Gastrointestinal roundworms, including certain inhibited larval stages.
    • Lungworms.
    • Cattle grubs/warbles, where applicable.
    • Sucking and biting lice.
    • Mange mites, including certain chorioptic and sarcoptic mite infestations.
    • Horn flies.

    Benefits

    • Provides broad antiparasitic activity against several important internal and external parasites.
    • Certain approved eprinomectin formulations are designed for use in lactating dairy cattle without a milk-withdrawal period, when used exactly according to the product label.
    • Some extended-release formulations can provide prolonged parasite control, potentially for up to 150 days, depending on the specific formulation.

    Safety and Precautions

    • Veterinary Use Only: Use only in the animal species for which the specific product is approved. Do not use in other species without veterinary direction.
    • Withdrawal Periods: Meat withdrawal requirements vary according to the specific formulation and country. Always follow the product label and veterinarian’s instructions. Milk-withdrawal requirements also depend on the registered formulation.
    • Adverse Reactions: Temporary injection-site swelling or tissue reactions may occur with some injectable formulations.
    • Environmental Safety: Eprinomectin can be harmful to dung-dwelling organisms and aquatic organisms. Avoid contamination of water sources and dispose of containers and unused product properly.
    • Handling Precautions: Pregnant individuals should exercise particular caution when handling veterinary medicines. Appropriate protective equipment, including gloves, should be used where specified on the product label.
